Our Meaning in Life

Kahlil Gibran is the third most published author in history, after Shakespeare and Lao Tzu, yet the volume of his writings were small in comparison.  It is surely the clarity and quality of his insights into life, conveyed by the eloquent expression of the poet that has touched so many millions of people over the last 100 years.  At the recent Gibran exhibition in Sydney, one of his quotes was writ large upon the wall:
“I have always thought that a Revelation is simply the discovery of an element in us, in our larger self, the self that knows what we do not know, and feels that which we dare not feel.  And what we call growth is nothing but knowledge of that larger self.”
It speaks profoundly to me because in all the facilitation work I have done over the last 30 years I have seen my role as simply sparking awareness of knowledge that already existed in people.  It’s reminding them of what they already always knew, but somehow making new sense of it.  That’s what we want this blog to be all about.
The VitallyMe team will be blogging on events that occur in our lives, in the context of personal growth tips and insights.  On some occasions you will find different people blogging about the same event, just so you will get a dance of perspectives, to which you can then add your own.  We might even ask some of you to be guest bloggers as well.
But the main aim of this site is, in every way possible, to offer practical and useful growth-oriented content that will make positive and on-going contributions to the lives of our readers.  We can unreservedly claim that we deeply understand people, how they get to be the way they are and how they get to be in the situations in which they find themselves.
I hope you join us in this ongoing narrative as a co-construction of the many views and experiences of constantly unfolding human beings.
For us that is a big part of finding meaning in life.  How about for you?
